POSITION OVERVIEW
The Financial and Management Accountant will oversee the financial management and reporting for Klapton Re’s collateralized reinsurance portfolio and other non-traditional facilities. The role includes ensuring accurate reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and efficient cash flow management. The successful candidate will work closely with underwriting, actuarial, and treasury teams to deliver robust financial insights and ensure operational efficiency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Financial Management
Oversee the financial reporting and reconciliation of the collateralized reinsurance portfolio and MGAs.
Ensure treaty agreements and collateral arrangements are executed and filed appropriately.
2. Reconciliations and Reporting
Perform monthly reconciliations of trust bank accounts and collateral balances.
Prepare accurate financial statements and cash flow forecasts for all non-traditional facilities.
Monitor and reconcile business trackers with core underwriting and accounting systems.
3. Regulatory Compliance and Auditing
Prepare regulatory returns and ensure compliance with local and international reporting standards.
Provide timely and accurate responses to external and internal audit requests.
4. Cash Flow and Budget Management
Manage cash flow for collateralized facilities, including collateral calls and payments.
Track budget vs actual performance and provide insights to improve efficiency.
5. Collaboration and Process Improvement
Collaborate with underwriting and actuarial teams to facilitate smooth financial operations.
Drive process improvements to enhance financial reporting accuracy and efficiency.
6. Management of True-Ups and Settlements
Manage the true-up process upon the completion of treaty agreements.
Ensure timely resolution of any discrepancies in financial records with brokers or counterparties.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Professional qualifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA, ZICA) are highly desirable.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, preferably in the reinsurance or insurance industry.
Skills:
Strong understanding of reinsurance accounting and financial operations.
Proficiency in financial systems and data reconciliation.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
