Fixed Asset Accountant at ACCA

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns in accordance with ZRA regulations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of Withholding Tax (WHT) and PAYE.
  • Maintain proper tax documentation and resolve any tax discrepancies.
  • Track and maintain the fixed asset register, including asset additions, disposals, and depreciation.
  • Support periodic physical verification of assets and reconcile fixed assets with general ledger accounts.
  • Assist in the capitalization process of assets.
  • Generate monthly VAT schedules and reports.
  • Liaise with auditors and tax consultants as necessary.
  • Provide analytical support to the finance team and assist with ad hoc financial duties.

Key Skills

  • Strong understanding of Zambian VAT, WHT, and PAYE regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and formulas.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with accounting systems such as Sage, SAP, or Pastel is an advantage.
  • Analytical mindset and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with fixed asset accounting is preferred but not mandatory (training can be provided).
  • Prior experience in a tax compliance or financial accounting role is an advantage.

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
