The Opportunity

Hobbiton is seeking a highly driven, strategic, and commercially astute Head of Commercial to lead our sales function and revenue growth initiatives. Based at our Head Office in Lusaka, this senior leadership role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced digital environments and is ready to shape the future of fintech in Zambia.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and execute the company’s commercial and sales strategy in line with overall business goals.
  • Identify market opportunities and oversee implementation of growth initiatives.
  • Translate strategic goals into actionable sales plans, forecasts, and performance targets.
  • Lead the end-to-end sales process from lead generation, prospecting, and client engagement to deal closure.
  • Oversee Business to Business and Business to Consumer sales channels across all customer segments.
  • Monitor the sales pipeline, conversion rates, and customer acquisition costs.
  • Drive sustainable revenue growth through strategic partnerships, cross-selling, and upselling.
  • Expand the customer base and explore new markets or channels.
  • Conduct competitive analysis to refine sales tactics and market positioning.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate the Sales team to meet and exceed individual and departmental KPIs.
  • Implement structured sales training, on-boarding, and performance management.
  • Foster a high-performance sales culture based on accountability, collaboration, and results.
  • Champion client relationship excellence by ensuring consistent and quality customer engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Customer Care teams to improve customer experience and retention.
  • Monitor and act on customer feedback, insights, and satisfaction trends.
  • Track and analyze sales data, preparing regular performance and revenue reports for the CEO.
  • Evaluate commercial performance against targets and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Use data insights to guide tactical adjustments and resource allocation.

Requirements

  • Full Grade Twelve or O-level Certificate
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field
  • Minimum 7 years experience in sales or commercial leadership, preferably in fintech or financial services
  • Demonstrated success in scaling commercial teams and achieving revenue growth
  • Experience in both B2B and B2C environments
  • Strong strategic planning and business development skills
  • Proven ability to lead and scale commercial teams
  • Excellent negotiation and closing skills
  • Strong financial acumen and data-driven decision-making
  • Advanced customer engagement and key account management capability.
