Job Purpose Summary
Coordinate all purchasing activities by adherence to company policies and procedures in order to effectively drive out costs, manage inventory and supplier relations.
Key Result Areas & Accountabilities
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and ethics codes and ensure that they are communicated and implemented to ensure transparency in materials management;
- Coordinate all purchasing activities and directly involved with managing inventory, supplier management and driving out cost in order to improve margins and support revenue growth;
- Create procedures and reporting methods for the effective management of inventory and well maintenance of locator system;
- Effective procurement to be carried out to minimise inventory carrying cost by monitoring safety stock levels and ensure avoidance of inventory shrinkage due to theft, fraud and negligence;
- Interface with departmental heads to establish material flow including releasing order, receiving materials, issues management and budget proposals;
- Participate in KML’s ongoing budgeting and strategic planning process by providing logistical support;
- Define performance metrics for measurement, comparison, and evaluation of supplier performance factors, such as cost, quality and delivery;
- Identify and develop strategic suppliers/partnerships to support KML’s business goals and to ensure end user satisfaction of the materials being procured;
- Fully embrace KML’s quality system to identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement;
- Ensure continuous improvement in supplier delivery, quality and cost; strive to standardize the materials by developing genuine vendors and codifying them in Navision;
- Ensure information security relating to materials department and accounting of all materials in the Navision;
- Management of people resources through good practices, employee appraisal systems, implementation of compensation and benefit programs, communication systems, and performance management techniques.
Professional Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelors of Science – Supply Chain Services/Business Administration;
- Master of Science – Supply Chain Services/Business Administration;
- Certifications in CIPS will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 10 years’ work experience in senior management position
- Paid up member of ZIPS/CIPS
- Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA) certificate of verification and evaluation of qualification will be required before the job offer Career development programs
Skills, Knowledge & Characteristics
- Excellent analytical and evaluation skills
- Good command of both oral and written communication
- Possession of good leadership skills
- Ability to lead the team
- Must be competent in ERP applications
- Excellent knowledge of the commercial regulations
