HR Manager at Unifi Zambia

Purpose of the role

The HR Manager leads the HR and Learning and Development function for the Zambia business, ensuring alignment with the group wide HR initiatives while addressing the needs of the Zambian business. The role is responsible for providing HR direction, supporting operational excellence, and fostering a culture of high performance, engagement and development. The HR Manager will collaborate closely with the leadership team of the Zambian business and the central HR team to help the organisation grow and deal with complexity.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the HR plan (inclusive of Learning & Development) with the country leadership team that address business needs and align to Unifi group objectives
  • Responsible for the management, execution and ongoing monitoring of the HR plan
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the country team and group stakeholders
  • Collaborate with the wider HR community and central HR team to implement group initiatives while addressing local needs.
  • Responsible for the planning, management and delivery of all HR processes including Learning & Development.
  • Responsible for the successful implementation and constant monitoring of group HR projects and initiatives
  • Ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Mentor and manage the performance of the HR generalists and learning facilitators.
  • Ensure all employee records are accurate.
  • Ensure that all payroll related submissions are on time and accurate.
  • Guide, develop and train the management team on HR processes to enable them to deal with increasing complexity.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing optimal operational processes to ensure an exceptional employee experience throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Work closely with the wider HR community to develop and implement strategies to promote the company's employer brand internally for talent attraction and retention.
  • Participate in job fairs, career events, and networking opportunities to increase the company's visibility and reputation as an employer of choice.
  • Provide reports as required
  • Be the HR representative for the Zambian team in all related forums and meetings
  • Responsible to ensure HR systems are optimally used and processes are adhered to
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business on all HR related matters
  • Foster a positive and engaging working environment
  • Implement various people related projects e.g. employee wellness, employee engagement initiatives, etc.
  • Monitor and analyse HR metrics in order to provide meaningful insights to the business with plans on how to address and improve metrics.


Requirements

  • Appropriate Bachelors Degree
  • Minimum of 3 years experience as HR Manager in a call centre, retail or similar environment 
  • Knowledge and understanding of Zambian people related legislation and acts
  • Ability and experience to represent the company on labour matters
  • Strong business acumen
  • Strong organisation, communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong relationship building skills.
