Background
Zambeef Products PLC is the largest integrated cold chain food products and agribusiness company in Zambia and one of the largest in the Southern Africa region. It is involved in the primary production, processing, distribution, and retailing of beef, chicken, pork, eggs, dairy, fish, flour, stock feed, and day-old chicks throughout Zambia and the surrounding region.
Responsibilities
Receiving, logging, and categorising all maintenance requests via the call centre. Validating request information and assigning priority levels.
Opening job cards and routing them to appropriate supervisors/managers.
Developing job plans including scope, materials, tools, permits, and manpower needs.
Preparing work packages for technicians and contractors.
Creating and maintaining weekly and monthly maintenance schedules.
Coordinating with supervisors, operations, and contractors to finalise schedules, as well as updating schedules based on progress, emergencies, and resource constraints.
Tracking job progress, delays, and completion status via the CMMS/spreadsheet system.
Ensuring timely closure of work orders on the system with accurate feedback. Maintain data integrity for maintenance history.
Analysing monthly labour reports and allocating costs to divisions based on actual hours recorded per job.
Submitting charge-out summaries and maintaining transparent cost records
Maintaining PM schedules and ensuring timely execution. Adjusting PM plans based on asset performance and supervisor input.
Ensuring planned work complies with engineering standards and statutory requirements.
Supporting safe work planning (permits, risk assessments, isolation requirements).
Identifying and implementing improvements in scheduling, planning accuracy, and work request response times.
Qualifications
Grade 12 Certificate
Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, Construction Management, Facilities Management, or related field.
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, facilities maintenance, or civil works coordination.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Package
Must be a Member of EIZ
Attributes
Strong understanding of maintenance planning principles, preventive maintenance, and workflow management.
Ability to self –manage workload and work independently.
Proficient in CMMS/maintenance software, planning tools, and MS Excel.
Knowledge of facilities systems (water, electrical, structural, drainage, HVAC) and civil infrastructure.
Detail-orientated with the technical aptitude and ability to perform tasks accurately and comprehensively.
Basic cost analysis and ability to allocate labour and materials to cost centres.
Understanding of safety practices, risk assessments, and SHERQ compliance.
Detailed process and analytical ability.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationship with other divisions, management and all levels of associates.
