Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of Mechanical Fitting Assessor to join the Project Department. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick's DNA by:

Reporting to the Senior Trainer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing comprehensive training programs for mechanical fitters and maintenance in- service personnel. You will also be responsible for carrying out timely inspections.
Responsibilities or duties
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Train mechanical fitters, on various mechanical systems, equipment, and components used in the copper processing plant, including pumps, valves, conveyors, crushers, mills, and other machinery.
- Deliver Competency Based Training to Mechanical Fitter until completion of program
- Deliver safety training sessions focused on mechanical maintenance activities, emphasizing hazard identification, risk assessment, lockout/tagout procedures, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and safe work practices to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Provide training on the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment and systems, including preventive maintenance tasks, breakdown repairs, and equipment overhauls, to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime.
- Train Artisans on precision measurement techniques, alignment procedures, and machine tolerances to ensure proper installation, alignment, and operation of mechanical components and machinery.
- Familiarize Artisans with various types of mechanical equipment, tools, and instruments used in maintenance and repair activities, ensuring they understand proper usage, maintenance, and calibration procedures.
- Ensure that mechanical maintenance training programs comply with relevant regulatory standards, industry best practices, and company policies, with a focus on promoting a culture of safety and regulatory compliance among maintenance personnel.
- Assess Artisans’ knowledge and skills through written exams, practical assessments, and performance evaluations to ensure they meet the required competency levels in mechanical maintenance and repair.
- Maintain accurate records of mechanical maintenance training activities, including attendance, training content covered, evaluation results, and certification records. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal record-keeping standards.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate
- Minimum Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Diploma in Teaching Methodology and must be accredited with TEVETA as a Trainer, Assessor and examiner.
- SAQA / Certificate IV Workplace Training and Assessment/ Train the Trainer training qualification (or equivalent) an added advantage.
- Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ & ERB)
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
Experience needed
Minimum Five (5) years’ working experience.

About the Team
The Lumwana copper mine is a conventional open pit (truck and shovel) operation. It’s located about 100 kilometers west of Solwezi in Zambia’s Copperbelt — one of the most prospective copper regions in the world. Lumwana ore, which is predominantly sulfide, is treated through a conventional sulfide flotation plant, producing copper concentrate.
