The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, workforce management, compliance with Zambian labour laws, and ensuring high-quality service delivery across all contracts. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with deep knowledge of Zambia’s labour regulations and experience managing unionised environments.
Responsibilities or duties
- Oversee and coordinate all cleaning operations across multiple sites
- Ensure full compliance with Zambian labour laws and statutory requirements
- Manage union relationships and maintain constructive engagement with worker representatives
- Develop operational strategies to improve efficiency, cost control, and service quality
- Supervise site supervisors and cleaning teams
- Manage staff scheduling, productivity, and performance management
- Lead disciplinary processes in accordance with labour regulations
- Ensure health & safety compliance across all sites
- Monitor client satisfaction and contract performance
- Prepare operational reports and performance dashboards
- Manage operational budgets and cost controls
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Minimum 7+ years of management experience, preferably in cleaning, facilities management, logistics or service industries
- Strong working knowledge of the Zambia Labour Act and employment regulations
- Must be a registered union member with experience working in unionised environments
- Proven experience managing large teams (50+ staff preferred)
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills
- Excellent organisational and reporting skills
