Background
Lusaka Child Development Agency (LKCDA), a local partner of ChildFund Zambia, is seeking a Programme Officer to support the implementation of child- and youth-focused development programmes at community level.
Role Summary
The Programme Officer will oversee community-based programme and sponsorship activities, ensure effective community mobilization, strengthen volunteer engagement, and promote child safeguarding. The role serves as a key link between LKCDA and Community Associations, ensuring compliance with organizational and donor requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and implement community-level programmes and sponsorship activities
- Mobilize communities and strengthen participation of children, families, and volunteers
- Ensure timely, high-quality narrative, sponsorship, and success reports
- Support sponsor relations, child enrolment, correspondence, and designated gifts management
- Strengthen governance, financial record keeping, and capacity of Community Associations
- Promote child safeguarding, protection, and accountability in all activities
- Liaise with community leaders, government structures, and partner organizations
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Development Studies, Community Development, Project Management, or related field
- (Extensive programming experience of 5+ years may be considered in lieu of a degree)
- At least 2 years’ experience in development or community-based programming
- Strong communication, facilitation, reporting, and community mobilization skills
- Knowledge of child protection, sponsorship programming, and development work
- Computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Fluency in English and a local language
