Job Description

VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT: PROJECT CONTROLS COORDINATOR – (FIXED TERM) 

Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of Project Controls Coordinator – LEP (Fixed Term) to join the versatile Expansion Project Department. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, you will be responsible to provide accurate, timely, and efficient support in project planning, cost control, scheduling, progress measurement, and reporting for the success execution of the expansion project. Additionally, you will work closely with project engineers, procurement, contractors, and site teams to ensure project control standards and procedures are adhered to, while escalating risks, trends, and variances to the Project Controls Manager for resolution.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Assist in developing and updating detailed project schedules using tools like MS Project.
  • Monitor critical path activities and advise on schedule deviations and recovery actions.
  • Track project budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts.
  • Support the maintenance of the cost control system and coding structures.
  • Assist in preparing monthly cost reports, variance analyses, and cash flow projections.
  • Collect and validate physical progress data from site teams and contractors.
  • Assist in preparing project status reports, including earned value analysis.
  • Maintain data accuracy in project dashboards and control systems.
  • Support the identification and tracking of project risks, issues, and opportunities.
  • Assist with the administration of change requests and trend logs under the guidance of the Project Controls Manager.
  • Ensure project control documentation, including schedules, reports, and change records, is organized and up-to-date.
  • Support implementation and compliance with project controls procedures, policies, and reporting standards.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 certificate
  • Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in project controls, preferably in mining, heavy industry or infrastructure projects.
  • Member of a relevant professional body
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g. Primavera P6, MS Project, Excel)
  • Familiarity with cost control software or ERP systems
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Detail oriented and well organized
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, dynamic project environment
  • Strong time management and task prioritization

Job Description Assistant Maintenance Manage – Process Plant Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit highly motivated and committed employees for the position of Assistant Maintenance Manager – Process Plant to join the versatile Process Engineering team. Your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Responsible for Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance, Engineering, Reliability and Planning sections. Ensure compliance with Reliability and Planning forecasts by regular monitoring and control and acting to correct negative deviations in Maintenance. Establish short, medium and long-term budgets to accurately forecast the production performance and efficiency of the Process Department Business unit. Lead the positive and effective implementation of LMC’s OH&S policy and procedures and overarching statutory requirements. Lead compliance with LMC’s environmental and social policies and procedures. Review/develop/implement and lead Barrick’s Maintenance teams and OEMs maintenance. Lead and ensure the achievement of the availability, reliability targets and all contractual obligations are met. Responsible for management, preparation of detailed and realistic maintenance work schedules. Mentor, provide training for subordinates and ensure development of succession plans and staff development programmes. Responsible for Planning and executing Planned Shutdowns on all equipment. Lead and manage maintenance teams and associated Planned and Unplanned works.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering Minimum 10 years’ experience in maintenance and engineering in the mining industry. Must have extensive experience in fixed plant maintenance and OEMs management. Must have extensive experience in the use of a recognized Maintenance Management Systems. Demonstrated ability to motivate, lead teams of highly skilled and experienced personnel having diverse cultural backgrounds. Must have detailed knowledge of LMC’s HSE Systems, supervises compliance and displays leadership in driving incident free operations. Demonstrates empathic leadership qualities, ability to provide sound direction and inspiration to work team to achieve desired outcomes. Prior experience in similar roles will be added advantage
