Job Purpose:

The Senior Manager, Borehole Siting and Drilling is responsible for assisting the Head of Water Resources and Construction with siting, supervision and monitoring of borehole drilling and construction.

Reporting to the Head of Water Resources & Construction

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head of Water Resources and Construction in designing the boreholes
  • Prepare Site Reports for each location.
  • Track the critical stages of the borehole construction in collaboration with the Head of Water Resources and Construction, to ensure that the following activities are completed and up to standard.
  • Review of existing data and information on the geology and hydrogeology of the locations.
  • Interpretation of remote sensing data collated from aerial photographs, satellite imagery, topographical and geological maps.
  • Review the accessibility of drilling equipment to the drill sites, including the preparation of a route map to the community sites.

Programme Management

  • Support the Head of with workforce planning and supervision.
  • Support the department Head with the preparation of workplans, activity and budget planning.
  • Support adherence to the implementation programme against the agreed work-plan, targets, time plans, budget, and result indicators is adhered to. Collect information/data related to work plan activities, and record the successes and challenges.
  • Report on the progress of the work plan at regular intervals to the supervisor as agreed. Supervise the staff as delegated by the department Head.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hydrogeology or a related field
  • 10 years of experience with management is advantageous.
  • Registered with the Engineering Institute of Zambia.
  • Valid driving license, at least five years old.
  • Willingness to travel and camp at the drilling site when required.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Lozi is advantageous
