LICS is a leading independent Pre-Primary, Primary, and Secondary School based in the leafy suburb of Roma in Lusaka, Zambia, and is a member of CIS, AISA, and ISAZ.

The school currently has an opening and is looking for a suitably qualified individual to join the LICS community as a Student Support Services Associate Teacher on a full-time, effective 02.03.2026.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with specialisation in Early Childhood Development
  • Able to develop and extend the personal range of teaching methodologies and strategies
  • Able to implement required assessment skills for effectively monitoring learner progress and development
  • Effective in classroom management techniques to ensure an engaging atmosphere, conducive for effective teaching and learning
  • Literate in a range of ICT applications, including MS Word 365, Excel, PowerPoint, iSAMS, Class Dojo, new LMS Toddle, interactive whiteboard techniques, eBeam, and educational administrative software
  • Competent administrative abilities
  • Responsible with a strong working knowledge of early childhood development
  • Experience with the EYFS/Cambridge 3-5 Curriculum, preferable.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Develop and deliver appropriate intervention programmes for students identified with additional needs.
  • Act as a liaison between family and school to ensure a joint approach to addressing the identified needs of the child.
  • Collaborate with other key professionals (e.g., school counsellors, health professionals, speech therapists) where necessary to create holistic intervention plans.
  • Assess the impact of intervention programmes to ensure they are meeting the needs of the student, and to ensure that these interventions provide the right level of challenge for the student to make progress.
  • Support class/ subject teachers to provide differentiated work and a stimulating environment for all learners; breaking down tasks into more readily achievable steps, allowing the student greater opportunities for ‘small wins’.
  • Contribute to/ develop a student’s Pen Portrait/ Support plan and to share relevant information, teaching strategies, and advice to others in the community.
  • Regularly review Pen Portraits and students’ progress.
  • Coach/ mentor other professionals who work with children with special educational needs.
  • Support the preparation of students for transition to the next phase.
