Lumumba Mining Company seeks to recruit highly motivated and committed employees for the position of Supervisor – Mine Roads to join the versatile Mining Team. We are in search of individuals who can champion Barrick's DNA by:

Reporting to the Coordinator - Mine Roads, you will be responsible for carrying out operational Mine Road works that assist the Mining Operations Team to focus on meeting production targets.
Responsibilities or duties
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Ensure personnel are adequately inducted in their work area and are aware of all workplace rules and critical procedures applying at LMC.
- Actively contribute to site safety policy, share initiatives and implement changes as required.
- Work in accordance with the road works plan as defined and agreed for the specific work area.
- Implementation of wet weather planning of haul road construction and maintenance.
- Work closely with peer supervisors to maintain site safety standards ie windrow heights, road surfaces and dewatering.
- Directly responsible for the haul road maintenance.
- Actively promote, monitor and enforce compliance to safe work practices.
- Ensure all incidents are reported and investigated according to company policy, statutory requirements and all recommended corrective actions are completed.
- Identifying the risks in their work area and enforce the correct measures.
- Assisting new employees in the application of the proper work procedures and practices.
- Reinforce the use of personal protective clothing, equipment or gear or any matter in relation to health and safety.
- Not attempting any task unless they are trained, capable and competent to safely perform the task.
- Management of mine plan and scheduling of equipment and works.
- Work with the coordinator and supervisor to achieve production and cost targets in conjunction with the daily, weekly and monthly mining plans that correspond with the annual production target.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate
- Minimum Certificate in Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering or equivalent.
- Eligible to be a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)
- Competent in incident/accident investigation
- Hold a valid driver’s license.
Experience needed
Minimum of Two (2) years’ experience in the open pit mining industry.
Experience in utilizing and/or operating large scale mining equipment, i.e. Articulated Dump Trucks, Dozers, Graders.
Blasting experience with valid blasting license.
Basic survey experience, working with TBM’s, Control pegs and Dual slope laser.
Experience in construction of Haul Roads, Ramps, Layer Works and Wearing Course Surfacing essential.
Experience in Roads related drainage systems, construction and maintenance thereof, is essential
