POSITION:
TEACHER OF PSYCHOLOGY
JOB PURPOSE
The Teacher of Psychology is dedicated to ensuring that Rhodes Park School provides a personalized, supportive and inclusive learning environment for primary and secondary students with additional learning needs.
The Teacher of Psychology in collaboration with subject specialists will also ensure that appropriate support is given to individual pupils to help them achieve their full academic potential.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and Manage the Learning Support & Interventions
- Observe students and review academic performance to spot learning challenges
- Give Feedback to Teachers and Provide Support to Improve Performance
- Help create or support Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Conducting Baseline Assessments at School Entry
- Participate in Student Progress Tracking and Advising Learning Interventions
- Reinforce classroom learning in ways that meet different learning styles
- Suggest modifications such as Extra time, simplified instructions, visual aids
- Train or support teachers in using effective strategies for diverse learners
- Design, Develop and Deliver Appropriate Pupil Support with the Curriculum
- Lead the Assessment, Identification, Remediation Programs for Gifted and Talented Students
- Develop and Use Effective Assessment and Moderation Systems
- Support Teachers to Achieve the Best Possible Learning Outcomes for All
- Offering Career Support to Students & Curriculum Guidance to Students
- Designing Effective Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Interventions for Learners
- Managing and Monitoring Child Welfare Matters Using Child Protection Policy
- Liaise with School Head Teachers and Stakeholders On Child Protection Matters
- Assist Pupils to Learn as Effectively as Possible in Both Group Situations and Individually, Inside and Outside the Classroom.
- Teach, On A One-To-One Basis, Children Who Have Been Identified as Having a Specific Learning Difficulty.
- Follow Programmes of Study, Carrying Out Necessary Assessments
- Serve as Counsellor On the Benevolent Fund Committee
- Performing any other tasks, duties or functions within the realm of the appointment, as well as attending to any other official duties as assigned from time to time.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL COMPETENCIES:
Preferred Academic and Professional Qualifications
- Full Grade 12 certificate with 5 Credit or better;
- At least a Degree in Psychology with Teaching experience, both from a recognized institution. Qualified Teacher registered and licensed with The Teaching Council of Zambia (TCZ).
- Teaching Methodology
- Able to teach A – Level Psychology
- Must be familiar with the school pathways of Examinations Councils of Zambia (ECZ) and Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE)
Knowledge / Experience /Skills/Competencies
- Three (3) years of teaching experience at a reputable School
- A growth mindset
- A creative and enthusiastic approach both in and out of the classroom
- Good communication skills, both oral and written
- Good administrative and interpersonal skills
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving skills
- Must hold high levels of integrity and professionalism
- Flexible to changing work needs
- Must be computer literate
