Overall Job Purpose
Responsible for imparting new skill sets, knowledge and behaviour in artisans on-site to enhance net proficiency output.
Specific Job Responsibility
This position will require adherence to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures, and legal regulations regarding health, safety, environment, quality, finance, human resources, and any other rules as required by the company and relevant to the role's level and responsibilities.
Responsibilities or duties
- Identify training needs and development areas for artisans through coaching interaction and participation in the artisan assessment process.
- Facilitate knowledge delivery according to the needs identified in the various sections of the Maintenance department.
- Identify and adopt coaching methodologies for continuous learning to effectively deliver coaching/mentoring.
- From the training need analysis, develop appropriate coaching interventions.
- Coaching artisans on identified development areas to enhance their performance and ultimately the performance of the fleet.
- Champion quality and provide visible leadership "on the floor" in FQM operations
- Undertake formal assessments of artisans with a view to identifying good performers to take up senior roles and further development.
- Design and complete assessments against the FQM proficiency framework
- Periodically evaluate the artisans on training and assess the impact of the training on them
- Prepare the learning materials for artisans and evaluate the relevance and impact of them during and after the training
- Provide regular candid feedback to artisans during and after the training and celebrate success to create a conducive learning environment
- Collaborate with the training department to define training needs based on assessments completed.
- Work with area Superintendents, Coordinators and the Reliability team to determine areas that are impacting the business and develop coaching interactions to focus on these areas.
- Perform other reasonable duties as directed by the Supervisor.
Qualifications or requirements
- Full Grade twelve (G12) school certificate.
- Minimum of a diploma in Heavy Equipment Repair, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or trade equivalent.
- A degree in the relevant field of study will be an added advantage.
- Solid computer skills, including use of MS Office (Word, Excel & Outlook), with a willingness to learn new software programs
- Teaching methodology certification or similar certification would be advantageous
- OEM certification to Level 3/4 will be an added advantage
- Valid EIZ Practising Certificate
- All qualifications must be certified by ZAQA
Experience needed
- A minimum of 10 years' maintenance experience in mobile maintenance within open-pit mining operations. The ideal candidate will have experience across all major equipment types (excavators, drills, trucks and auxiliary equipment)
- At least 5 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience with condition-based maintenance and Oil Sample Analysis
- Experience with ultra-class mining equipment preferred
- Experience with standard maintenance reliability processes - MTBF, MTTR, five whys, FMECA, etc
- Experience with the use of computerised maintenance management systems - Pronto preferred
