Introduction and Background
SOS Children’s Villages Zambia is a non-governmental, social development organization focusing on the promotion and safeguarding of children’s rights. The organization is currently operational in four regions; Lusaka, Livingstone Kitwe and Chipata. Through one of its core programme, Family Strengthening, the organization aims at empowering communities and families toward self-reliance so as to prevent separation of children from their families and promote children growing up in a caring family environment.
Context of Lusaka FS Program
It is believed that inadequate business skills, poor financial management skills and poor record keeping contributes to mismanagement of group IGAs funds. Therefore, it is important for IGA recipients to be trained and coached in basic business management skills. The workshop will help them to develop a good understanding of basic business principles and will further help them to improve their financial management and record keeping skills.

Objectives of the Training
The objective of the training is to train 30 youths for 4 days in basic business skills, financial management and record keeping.
Expected outcomes
At the end of the training, participants will be expected to;
• Develop a good understanding of basic business skills and principles.
• Acquire some skills in financial management and record keeping.
• Improve their attitude towards managing community projects (IGAs).
• Manage their finances and effectively in order to meet their needs.
The training will take up a participatory approach and will involve corporate learning and group discussions. It will be conducted in an interactive learning environment with a lot of practical activities.
In order to ensure effective participation, the workshop will also take up an interactive approach that will include: Facilitation, Group discussions, Teaching, Individual / Group exercises, and Case studies. This will help to enhance understanding, assimilation and application of the taught skills and concepts.
Deliverables – by the facilitator
• Report shall be issued within five (5) days after completion of the workshop
• Timeline
• The training will run for a period of (4) days, from 21st to 24th May, 2019. The workshop will be held at Habitat Community Hall near SOS children’s villages along great north road in Lusaka.
• Target group
• The target participants are youths belonging to members of the SOS partner CBOs who have been earmarked to receive economic support in form of income Generating Activities (IGAs) at CBO level from Kabanana, Chaisa, Mandevu, Chipata, Garden, Chingwere, Chazanga, Kapopo and Independence Communities


Eligibility criteria
In order to qualify for consideration of contract award, the consultant should prove that the following qualifications, technical and financial requirements are met fully.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business studies from a recognized institution.
• With 3 – 5 years’ experience in conducting similar training (evidence to be provided in the proposal such as references). CV for the team members must be part of bid submission
• Provide detailed work methodology to be used as will be proposed by the consultants in relations with the TOR
• Must have good understanding of community empowerment projects and also experience in working with community based organizations (CBOs)
• Proficiency in local languages preferably Nyanja and Bemba
• The financial proposal which must clearly show taxes applicable e.g. 15% withholding tax on professional fees only and VAT/Tax on training material cost.
• Must submitted certificate of registration & Company profile including the current PACRA annual approval and valid Tax clearance certificat
